The Collaboration:

The partnership between Stoney Ridge Estate Winery and The Tragically Hip, one of Canada’s most iconic bands, began in 2014 with the release of the first wine bearing the band’s name, Fully Completely Reserve Red. The wine was co-created by band members Gord Downie, Paul Langlois, Rob Baker, Gord Sinclair, and Johnny Fay in conjunction with the Stoney Ridge winemaking team. The Fully Completely Reserve Red was a premium blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc from the acclaimed 2012 vintage. Created to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the bands Fully Completely album and the start of the bands 2015 North American tour.

While no one predicted how a Tragically Hip wine would be received, the limited 500 case production sold out the weekend of its release. The reception from Hip fans and wine enthusiasts alike prompted the partnership to continue with subsequent vintages of the Reserve Red. The wine was then released to the province’s alcohol retailer the LCBO, where it broke the Canadian wine sales records two years in a row.

Over the past 10 years The Tragically Hip wine portfolio has grown to include other popular releases: Ahead by a Century Chardonnay, Flamenco Rosé, 50 Mission Cab and Fireworks sparkling wine. The Tragically Hip wines have grown in popularity across Canada, become a staple at Canadian dinner tables, cottage getaways and popular restaurants, and continue to be collected as must haves by the fans of The Tragically Hip. To this day the band and the winery continue to
produce 100% Canadian, VQA wines of quality and distinction.

"Over the years we have watched and tasted with enthusiasm as the quality of Niagara wines continued to increase, and we are excited to be working with such an acclaimed, multi-award-winning winery, Stoney Ridge on the release of this premium wine," said guitarist Paul Langlois at the inaugural release.
